Is the music business fun? Sometimes, but it's an endurathon. Weariness! Frustration! Occasional transcendence! In other words, it's like golf.
Songwriter, guitarist, and golfer Scott Gorham of hard rock super group BLACK STAR RIDERS had the opportunity to consider the comparison (amid the threat of rattlesnakes!) with veteran Los Angeles journalist and fellow golfer Greg Burk in this exclusive interview for MetalJazz.com.
"I don't look at golf as a sport," says Gorham, exhaling from the vapor cigarette he calls his digital crack pipe. "It's a learned skill, a discipline." Like playing guitar? "Yeah, actually. But I sweat a lot more when I play guitar."
Gorham goes on to discuss his joys over the band’s debut album, All Hell Breaks Loose, the relationship between Irish & country music and the feel behind BLACK STAR RIDERS’ songwriting, and the ultimate motivation behind why he’ll continue to golf.
